Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. In 2022, an estimated 151,030 people will be diagnosed with this highly preventable disease. Colorectal cancer screening can save your life.

There are several options for screening, including at-home stool-based tests. Colonoscopies are recommended for patients who are at high risk for colorectal cancer due to family history or who have an abnormal result from a stool -based test. A colonoscopy is also recommended for those experiencing any of the following symptoms: blood in bowel movements, change in bowel habits, abdominal pain, weight loss or unexplained anemia.
